I never liked pancakes growing up, but recently I've somehow developed a taste for them. Maybe I've had them enough times over the years, just to be polite, that they finally grew on me. But my other concern was that even though I somewhat like them now, I still can only eat so many. And leftover pancakes just don't appeal to me at this point. So, I did a little internet search and found a 1-person recipe! (Cheers, cheers!) Now, I'm no pancake expert, and this is the only the second time I've attempted to make them (actually the first time I've been successful). But the point is that I was successful this time. And I enjoyed them. And that's saying something when it comes from someone who's really not a pancake lover. So, here is the link to the recipe I found: Pancakes for One. Enjoy your pancakes!
There are lots of good grocery stores out there. Kroger isn't the only one. There are even several that are comparable in selection and pricing. But one big reason I keep going back to Kroger is that I can go there and buy one carrot if I want to. One! They sell them loose! I don't have to buy a two-pound bag of carrots that will mostly go to waste because I can only reasonably eat 1/4 of a pound (maybe) before the rest of it goes moldy! I can buy ONLY what I'm going to eat AND save some money! I win! And they sell small broccoli crowns. And they always have sweet potatoes.
That's it. That's why I like Kroger - because of their produce department. It sounds pretty silly, I know. And it wouldn't make as much of a difference if I couldn't find other groceries I like there, too. So that's my story. That's why I shop at Kroger. Besides the fact that I can walk there. Yes, convenience is definitely a factor. But I wouldn't keep shopping there if I didn't like it. And the produce thing does make me like it a little more - especially since I know of at least one other major store that does not sell loose carrots. Not that they're, well, rolling around loose and have to be round up (rounded up?) and corralled twice a day or anything like that. No, they're just sitting there calmly on the shelf, waiting for me to come buy some of them. I don't even buy carrots all that often, actually. I just appreciate the fact that they have this. I don't know if they did it intentionally for single people and/or smaller families. But I appreciate it just the same. |
AuthorGrocery stores, packaging, and recipes all tend to be geared toward groups or families. But I'm finally figuring out how to make shopping, cooking, and eating for one enjoyable and affordable. Archives
